Maria Polo (Venice, Italy, 1937 – Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1983). Painter, designer, engraver and vitralista. Studied at the Art Institute of Venice between 1949 and 1955. Four years later, emigrated to Brazil, settling in São Paulo, where she began work for a solo show at the invitation of Pietro Maria Bardi, an Italian writer, curator and collector, mostly known for being the Founding Director of the São Paulo Museum of Art in Brazil and the husband of Lina Bo Bardi.
Polo was among the artists featured at the 2024 Venice Biennale.
