Antique oil on canvas painting with coeval frame belonging to the early 19th century. The central scene enclosed in a rectangle is surrounded by grotesque painting in vogue soon after the discovery of the excavations at Herculaneum and Pompeii. The main scene depicts the classic house of the period with a family inside watching an eagle and a peacock at play. Condition: In need of restoration. Provenance: early 19th century Naples.
