Neapolitan Artist, Madonna and Child with the Infant Saint John, 18th Century, Oil Painting on Copper

Antique oil on copper painting depicting Madonna and Child with St. John. The work has a good balanced and harmonious composition in the center of which is the Madonna looking intently at St. John as she exchanges the dove for the baby Jesus. The Child wrapped in white drapery and painted with the already adult facial features and gaze turned to look at St. John. The Virgin has the classic veil and wears a dress of soft purple drapery alternating with blue and holds the Child on her lap within an undefined setting. Provenance: Naples 18th century.
