A 19th Century Chinese dowry (Marriage) chest. Used to commemorate the wedding of a bride which was carried after the wedding to the new residence with a long pole through a top piece. All metal intact and normal wear on entire unit. Red accent painting with Chinese characters on the front. Since the piece is c.1900, there is no way of understanding what the characters mean but could be either the family name or a wedding story.

Four draws, each removable and replaceable for storage of content. All metal is intact. Wood in very good condition. A very decorative and distinctive piece.

Entire chest is 34 inches by 22 inches wide by 40 inches high. The four draws with a cover is 18 inches by 31 by 27 high. Allfour draws can be removed for stacking and storage of items.
