This large Burmese bell is known as hka-lauk and was used to track the movement of a livestock animal, strung from a collar by the two loops at the top. Dated to the 19th century, the bell was cast of bronze using the lost wax method with a traditional pattern of flowering stems within rectangular frames. Displayed on a custom mount, this storied functional object becomes a small work of sculpture.
