Beautiful late 19th century carved wood fire screen with a center crest of winged griffons and the original needlepoint tapestry center. The carved wood frame is made of walnut and is supported by scroll carved wooden feet which are very sturdy. The needlepoint center looks to have a Phoenix which symbolizes strength, transformation and renewal. Overall the fire screen is in very good condition and would look great in front of a fireplace when not being used. There are some small pieces of wood missing from the finals shown in the photos. This is a nice piece I had in my home in front of a antique carved wood mantel when I didn’t have a fire lit and it looked great.
