A highly decorative and visually striking antique Burmese (Myanmar) food container, constructed by hand using turned wood & bamboo, then hand carved and decorated overall in a striking vermillion red lacquer.
These vessels were used to carry food offerings to temple monks.
Constructed in three parts, the stepped circular base rises to an integral bowl-shaped body with a recessed food compartment and a removable dish, the conforming domed cover terminating to a spire shaped finial.
In very good overall condition, and priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace.
