Antique late 19th century Burmese (Myanmar) exceptional solid silver repousse’ bowl, repousse’ decorated in high detail and relief with scenes of agriculture, elephants helping to move timber, villagers sawing and carrying wood, ploughing the ground with two water buffalo, carrying water and planting crops. Surrounding the scenes and the top chased with scrolling foliage, at the base a band depicting naga tigers and vacant ribbon cartouches. The workmanship is particularly crisp and detailed, the work is simply outstanding. The bowl is unmarked as is often the case, acid tested shows a high 900+ standard silver purity, judging by the quality and style the bowl dates to the 1880s.
