Catalin is not to be confused with Bakelite although both have a similar composition. While both are often used interchangeably, they are in fact very much different in their production processes. No doubt Bakelite is still sought out by many, but it is Catalin that is more rare to find, thus making it more desirable to collectors.
The condition overall of this radio is excellent with no cracks or chips. The radio turns on with sound and the tuning dial works however there is static which would require some service.
